Staying true to its title, Veerakumar’s Chasing has a lot of sequences in which its protagonist Athira (Varalaxmi) is seen chasing goons and drug peddlers in different locations. The film opens with the kidnapping of a girl who gets rescued by Athira in a few minutes, followed by an investigation. However, the viewers have little idea about who has been kidnapped and the motive behind the same. The director reveals it in the latter half though, but unfortunately the audience loses patience before the halfway mark. The film lacks thrills, adequate character detailing and engaging narration one expects in an action thriller. A few actors appear uncomfortable in their roles which affect the overall output. The loud and repetitive background score makes things worse. Varalaxmi excels in a few action episodes, but that isn’t enough to save this tiresome film.
